SAR Analysis Program (SAR Intelligence)

Course Description

Introduction

This course offers an in-depth exploration of the art and science of analysis, specifically tailored for Search and Rescue (SAR) case investigations and search planning. Participants will develop a comprehensive understanding of how analysis can enhance search strategies, reduce uncertainty, and improve outcomes in complex SAR operations.

Although this course focuses on SAR-specific examples, the analytical methods taught are highly transferable to other disciplines, including humanitarian work, disaster relief, criminal investigations, intelligence analysis, political analysis, and more.

Participants will learn to apply diverse reasoning processes, recognize and overcome cognitive biases, implement advanced analytical techniques, and effectively communicate their findings within a SAR context. This skill set empowers planners and investigators to ask the right questions, make sound decisions, and provide clear, informed updates to decision-makers, families, and the public.
