An American hiker failed to return from a planned route in the Pyrenees, with only minimal information available regarding his intended itinerary. Rescue International reconstructed his probable route and developed multiple scenarios to guide the search effort.
Cell-phone and computer forensics, combined with a judicial authorization, allowed the team to reduce uncertainty regarding his potential location. Working jointly with the Guardia Civil and the Pegaso drone unit, search teams systematically eliminated high-risk terrain such as deep cracks, caverns, and crevasses where survival was still possible under certain conditions.
Helicopters, drones, and ground teams were deployed across a large area. AI-assisted imagery review further enabled the identification and recovery of multiple ground items for analysis. The hiker was eventually located within the defined search zone.
