In this specialized course, handlers will learn the skills necessary to work safely with their dogs in helicopter operations, including transport and hoisting procedures. The training exposes dogs to the unique challenges of helicopter environments, such as being transported inside the cabin and working at heights during hoisting manoeuvres.
Search and rescue dogs, especially those trained for disaster response, are critical resources often required in urgent and hard-to-reach areas affected by emergencies. When every second counts, K9 teams must be rapidly deployed to the scene—whether responding to avalanches, natural disasters, or other high-priority incidents. In many situations, helicopters provide the fastest and most effective means of transport.
This course emphasizes training and socialization with rope work and helicopter manoeuvres, enhancing operational safety while reducing stress and sensory overload for the dog. Proper preparation ensures that both handler and dog can perform search tasks efficiently, even in high-pressure environments.
